cold weather 300x225 Coldest Places on Earth

Vostok station, Antarctica

Some 3,500m above sea level and near the South Geomagnetic Pole Vostok is one of the coldest places on the planet.  The coldest temperature ever recorded was -89.2°C. Another interesting feature of this place is one of the largest lakes – Lake Vostok which is wrapped with ice.

Eureka, Canada

This place is a base of Canada located on the Ellesmere Island. It acctually is a weather station and the average temperature there is -20°C. Usually it goes down to -40°C. If you want to visit that place (I wonder why one would do that) you will have to spend around US$20,000 for the plane ticket.

Oymyakon, Russia

The temperatures in this region located in the Yakutia republic could go down to -71.2°C …

Denali, USA

It is also known as Mount McKinley or the coldest mountain on earth. Be prepared for temperatures around -40°C. If you are a mountaineer tha this would be ok for you.
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

The temperature of the air over there usually circulates around -16°C. The weather is dry and cold. The interesting thing about this place is the Camel Museum and the Gandantegchinlen Khiid – the largest monastery in Mongolia.
